Effective range of .45 long colt?
I was wondering what the effective range was with a Ruger Blackhawk with 7.5in barrel, .45 long colt, for hunting deer. Also if this had a 4x scope on it?
H is right on this one. I have a Blackhawk in 44 magnum that’s scoped and I will only risk a 65-70 yard shot maximum. The 45 long colt just doesn’t have the power that a 44 mag does so the effective range is a bit shorter. Good gun to hunt Whitetails with at 50 yards of less,if the 45 long colt is legal in your state…An LER 4X scope would work fine for this…..
